Indian Forest Service Examination 2025 by UPSC

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Dholpur House, New Delhi, is set to conduct a preliminary screening test for the Indian Forest Service (IFS) Examination 2025 for the recruitment of Indian Forest Service Officers. (Advertisement No. 06/2025-IFoS)

The UPSC will hold a Screening Test for the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2025 through the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2025, scheduled for 25th May 2025.

The pattern of the Indian Forest Service Examination has been revised, and candidates for the IFS Examination 2025 will now need to appear in the Indian Civil Service Examination (Preliminary) 2025. The Main Examination is tentatively planned for November 2025.

Indian Forest Service Examination 2025 Details

Approximately 150 (with 09 reserved for PH candidates)

Age Limit

Candidates must be between 21 and 32 years of age as of 1st August 2025. Age relaxations apply for SC/ST/OBC and other categories as per the official notification.

Educational Qualification

A Bachelor's degree from a recognized university with at least one of the following subjects: Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Zoology, or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry, or Engineering, or an equivalent qualification is required.

Physical Standards

Candidates must meet the specified physical fitness standards as outlined in the official notification.

Number of Attempts

The maximum number of attempts allowed for different categories are: (i) General Category - 6 attempts, (ii) OBC - 9 attempts, and (iii) SC/ST - No limit.

Plan of Examination

The examination will consist of two stages:

(i) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) for shortlisting candidates for the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination.

(ii) Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for the final selection of candidates.

Application Fee

Candidates (except Female/SC/ST/PH candidates who are exempt) must pay a fee of ₹100/- through cash deposit at any SBI branch, SBI net banking, or via Visa/Master Credit/Debit cards for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination.

All applications must be submitted online in the prescribed format from 22/01/2025 to 11/02/2025, up to 6.00 PM. The application portal is available at https://upsconline.gov.in.
